In Asia-Pacific, the government of Nepal gave its consent to an action plan to end electricity outages within a year. In India, the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) reassessed the benchmark cost of Concentrated Solar Thermal (CST) technologies, and will obtain a budget allocation of INR50.36 billion ($730m) in 2016-2017, up from INR 2.62 billion ($40m) in the previous year. France introduced tenders for biopower installations, and the South African cabinet gave its consent to the gazetting of Renewable Energy Development Zones (REDZ) and power corridors.
